Hannah Knapp (son of Thomas and Martha Knapp) was born in Connecticut in 1782. She married Eli Morehouse in Norfolk, Litchfield County, Connecticut in 1801. Eli Morehouse was born 22 Sep 1778 in Connecticut and died 1 Jul 1855 in Green Twp., Trumbull County, Ohio. Both Eli and Hannah were laid to rest at South (Kenilworth) Cemetery, Green Twp., Trumbull County, Ohio. Eli was the son of David Wheeler Morehouse & Ann "Anna" Knapp. Eli and Hannah could very well have been cousins but the exact relationship has yet to be determined as of the time of this writing (2025).

The Morehouses were neighbors of Thomas Knapp and family back in Norfolk. Later, Hannah and Eli Morehouse lived next door to Thomas Knapp in the 1810 census for Fabius, New York.

Hannah and Eli Morehouse left Fabius and moved to Greene Twp., Trumbull County, Ohio. In the 1860 census we find that her brother Jacob Knapp's son, Silas Knapp, is living with his Morehouse cousin's there in Trumbull County. Along with all the deed and census information I've researched, this is another piece of evidence that Hannah is the daughter of Thomas and Martha Knapp. But the final proof is that descendants of Thomas Knapp have DNA matches to descendants of Hannah Knapp, including one of his descendants who was tested and was found to be a 41.2cM autosomal DNA match to a direct descendant of Hannah Knapp Morehouse. These matches have Thomas Knapp as their most recent common ancestor.

It should be noted that the listing in the Nicholas Knapp Genealogy of Hannah Knapp as a daughter of Samuel Knapp was never proved and was actually an unsourced error.

3. MARTIN MOREHOUSE - born 4 Aug 1810, Fabius, Onondaga County, New York, d. 18 Jan 1870 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, md. Joanna E. Eldreage.
4. WHEELER MOREHOUSE - born 1813, Fabius, Onondaga County, New York, d. 1873 in Iowa, md. Caroline Crittenden.
5. JOHN GEORGE MOREHOUSE - born July 1820, Fabius, Onondaga County, New York, d. abt. 1858 in Fayette Co., Iowa, md. Juliett "Julia" Clark.
